A Second Date at Comfort Cafe

I had no idea this little brunch spot existed, but it is so cute, and so freaking delicious! I am glad I flexed off work to go here. It's back off the frontage road, kind of in a greenway, and the building is all vintage Spanish style, with a non working fountain in the middle filled with rocks and succulents. The place is a non profit and a pay what you can afford system. All the employees are in recovery.

We arrived at about the same time, I parked in a back pocket because I knew that I would kiss him on this date. We did talk about things I don't like when dating, and my dislike for excessive PDA came up. So he knows my disdain for making out in parking lots, like what the Tattoo Artist would do. However, a simple kiss, maybe an open mouth kiss, and mayyyybbeeeeeeee just a slip of tongue? I'm good with that.

Anyways, we hugged and walked into the place. We got there at a good time, as it was just starting to get busy. I was wearing black leggings, sandals, and my short sleeved white tunic button up shirt with a new lacy longline black bra underneath. Subtle, Danielle. Real subtle. I had noticed him checking out the goods when we were at Dough, and come on, I know how to play up the assets.

Conversation was really good. I asked about what the kids thought, and he said he didn't give them much details, just that he had a good time and that he would see me again. I had told my best friend that we were going to brunch and she had said "omg, I can't wait to see what he orders", so I was quietly assessing and then after the waitress took the menus I told him about what she said, and he just laughed and said "well, I hope I passed". He told me about his new glasses, and a little more about his past.

He is very polite and has excellent table manners. When we went to Dough, he pulled out the cloth napkin on the lap almost immediately. Honestly, I so rarely go out I forget my own table manners like I'm some kind of wild woman. At Comfort Cafe, he passed me a napkin after I just grabbed my knife and fork to start cutting up my eggs, I'm so inelegant sometimes.

After we ate, we walked around the small courtyard and sat at a bench. Those weird little crumbly tree things kept falling on us, so I made the first move and brushed a few off his jacket. We talked about our favorite books and art, and described the art pieces we have collected here and there. My art collection is vast, but also filled with nudes, so I told him I am not sure its appropriate to share, it's kind of scandalous.

When we got up, he brushed those tree things off my back, I wondered if he would go all the way to try and swipe past my ass, but he was very honorable, and just brushed them off my back and shoulders. As we walked to my car, I linked my arm in his and he pulled me in close to his side. Then the cat and mouse game began. So I said the magic words.

Moi: "Thank you for breakfast, it was delicious, and I enjoyed spending time with you and would love to see you again"

Being that we were going into Easter weekend, although he is not religious, I did not expect to see him. I wasn't expecting to see anyone, tbqh. He suggested that maybe getting together at the beginning of next week, and that he would check with his kids. He told me that he doesn't want to be out every day of the week, and I agreed. I can't afford the calories, and I also have been working late then working out, so I prefer a date once a week, maybe twice. Now that was done, we looked at each other. I pushed my sunglasses up, and tried for a sultry look, but it was really just a half smile. It worked.

As we hugged, our lips met, closed mouth (boo), but innocent. Just a long press of the lips as he held me against him. We said goodbye and I sped home to get back to work.

When we caught up later via text, he wanted to discuss our backstories, or comparing baggage to see if we even wanted to continue down the dating path. Oh boy. Okay, this can of worms...
